"Fake it till you make it" vs "Wing it till you bring it"... which one are you? 👇

I was sitting in my amazing hairdresser's chair last week and we got onto the topic of business journeys, hustle, and how we ACTUALLY got to where we are.

He said something that stopped me mid-sentence...

“I don't fake it till I make it. I wing it till I bring it.”

And honestly? That caught my attention & I found myself thinking about that one sentence for the rest of the day.

Because "fake it till you make it" has always sat a bit uncomfortably with me.

Like, I get the idea... back yourself, show up confidently even when you're terrified.

But the word "fake" implies you're pretending to be something you're not.

And that never felt like me.

My reality?

I had no business plan. No big loan. No grand vision of owning a salon or employing a team.

I just... started. Said yes to things. Took opportunities. Believed in myself & backed myself.

Figured it out as I went... And somehow, here I am.

That's not faking anything. That's winging it and then bringing it.

And here's what I've learned along the way, the winging it gets you started, but the strategy is what helps you grow.

Once I found my feet, having a clearer direction, knowing who I was serving, what I wanted to build, where I was going ... that's when things really shifted.

So maybe it's not one or the other.

Maybe it's...

👉 Wing it till you bring it to get through the door

👉 Then build the strategy that takes you further than you ever planned

Or maybe you think they're basically the same thing?

Or neither sits right with you?

I'm genuinely curious whether this splits the room.

How do you feel about this?
